Welcome to the Ondes Martenot Archives
Designed in France by cellist Maurice Martenot, the Ondes Martenot was one of the first electronic instruments yet it remains one of the most expressive. Originally deubted in 1928, this instrument was continually refined until Martenot's death in 1980. Fewer than 300 instruments were produced during this time and only a small amount of those remain operational to this day.
We collect and publish technical information related to the construction and operation of this rare instrument. We hope that this information will help keep these instruments working and assist in future research.
